Many of us have had THE VIRUS. Yikes! What a bizarre experience. We made it through ok. It wasn’t fun by any stretch but we survived. We took better care of ourselves and felt stronger. Then 2-3 months out, we see a few strands of hair fall. It accelerates. A brush full. A drain full. Panic sets in. Some don’t mind baldness. Most, especially women, freak as they lose their crowning glory.
Can anything be done? Yes! Some things can help slow loss. Stopping it all together is another story. Your body has hijacked your hair. The telogen phase (the last cycle of hair growth - the shedding phase) must run it’s course.
Breathe deep. It will regrow. For now, have your physician order iron and ferritin levels to be checked. Get your thyroid checked. Make sure physically you’re not depleted. Eat well. Dump sugar and junk-food. This time really do it or you’ll delay the return of healthy hair. There’s some great hair supplements on the market. Take them. Reduce stress as much as you can as its a contributor.
Look for support. Anywhere. Social media is swimming with people who are in the same boat.
Here are a few additional things you might want to consider to give you some feeling of control over what’s happening. Get a haircut but skip the layers. It will appear thicker. Try Rogaine. It really works. Consult your Doc about supplements. Too many or the wrong ones aren’t a good thing. Maybe your hormones need a tune-up ?
The virus played havoc with our systems. It affected all of us.
Breathe deep. Take care of yourself and your hair will come back. Some say much better than before.
Can you relate? Let me know how you’re doing.
